When you're a newbie all excited about locating your ancestors it is easy to regard all new information as gospel. I'm at the stage where you start to realize that you've learned nothing unless you can document it. And you have to enjoy the whole process enough to go that extra mile. I have to say that I really appreciate all the hours that people have put into making official information such as federal census data available on the web. When you think of how much time is saved in tracing information so that you just have to get offiicial copies of the data, it makes you wonder how the pre-web average person could afford to trace their family.
