Brenda, I am new to this list and I too am researching the CAMPBELL names from Albemarle, who later moved to Amherst. Along with CAMPBELL I am researching MAYS from both places. I am stuck on Bartholomew CAMPBELL B. abt. 1795 d. 1827 in Amherst County. He married Tabitha Mays on March 28, 1820, in Amherst. Both of their parents were from Albemarle. Not sure were Bartholomew and Tabitha were born. Bartholomew and Tabitha had at least one known child named James Anderson CAMPBELL b. 5-19-1823 and d. 1906. He moved to Buchanon, VA which later became WV. There is a Leroy Campbell that is believed to be a son of Bartholomew and Tabitha. It is believed that Bartholomew comes from a CAMPBELL line with the first name of George (four of them in a row before Bartholomew). I just returned from Amherst and have some information on the CAMPBELL's that once lived in Albemarle but was changed to Amherst when Amherst became a County from Albemarle.
