Dear List, John Ison (Isham, Isom) m. Martha Elizabeth HOUGH after they ran off to VA in 1680. John's father, Sir Gideon Isham did not approve of the marriage, so the went to VA. Did the HOUGH family change the spelling to HOUFF? Did Martha's family move to VA because that was the destination of other members of her family? I believe that Martha's family were German Palatinates who were some of the many refugees who stopped in England in Camps before going to various places in the colonies of America and Northern Ireland. What are the thoughts of the list members? Regards, Wilma Kelly [email protected]
