Has anyone ever determined identified the parentage of following family group. I know they are not sons of Michael Woods of Blair Park. His son Richard married, I believe, a Jennie, or something similar. In any event, the following seem to be of record in both Albemarle and Augusta Counties. James Woods (patented land on Stockton's Creek In Albemarle Co c1749) Wife UNK. Children: UNK Samuel d 1784 (lived near James, one of the original purchasers of lots in Charlottesville) Wife: UNK. Children: Barbara m George Martin Margaret m Richard Netherland (moved to Sullivan Co TN) John B. Mary m Benjamin Harris Jane m Joseph Montgomery Elizabeth m William B. Harris Richard d. 1801 (lived north of Taylor's Gap; brokered real estate) Wife Elizabeth Ann Stuart (sister of Col John Stuart). Children: William George Mathews Richard Elizabeth m James Brooks There was also evidently a Charles Woods involved with this group. According to the abstracts of wills, Will Book 3, Augusta County, VA: Page 236.--21st May, 1761. Samuel McDowell and Richard Woods' bond (with David Stewart), as guardian (appointed) to Samuel, Arthur, Esther, Elizabeth, and Charles Woods, orphans of Charles Woods. The orphan Charles seems to have survived, showing up on the both the 1810 and 1820 Orange County Censuses. MARGARET MACKLIN, 55, in this place, Thursday 5th inst, by THOMAS CLANCY. Charles is not enumerated on the 1830 Orange County Census.
