Hi Albemarle Gang, You know me....I'm the one who's posted in the past about the Preservation and Historical Study of Maplewood Cemetery in Downtown Charlottesville, est. 1827. Visit: http://members.aol.com/SueW601/concern.html I desperately need the help of those that reside in Albemarle/Charlottesville. I need folks that normally visit, or will do so, the library in search of Daily Progress Obits, the Historical Society or LDS for family research, County and City Court House Archives, and UVa Special Collections. While researching your own family I am hoping you will spend a second or two to gather information needed for this important preservation/history project. There are many graves at Maplewood that appear in city records but have no headstone anymore. I want to prove to Parks Division, in charge of maintenance, that these graves exist. Even worse....there are many graves at Maplewood that exist but the shoddy City records do not record them.(usually an obit helps identify these graves) . There is no way that I can research every obit or family history. I need the help of others. Please contact me if you are willing to assist in researching at UVa, Daily Progress microfilm, ACHS, etc. Sue Weber 977-5179 Or email at SueW601@aol.com
