hi to the list was in the clerk's office recently and was talking with a gentleman also researching. He was reading court orders and in one book he pointed out a section that was devoted to road orders ca 1870. These orders when read from beginning to end will give the names of many, if not most, of the persons owning land who were responsible for maintaining the roads in Albemarle near/by their property...I had never seen these entries, and they are a real goldmine! I believe he said this was book # 23. Of course, this is not indexed! If I remember correctly, he also said he had seen similar entries in the 1840s Hi Bre - good to see you there also and you can add to this what you understood! Alice in Fluvanna
