I apologize for being so tardy in finishing up Alexander Brown's Early Settlers of Albermarle/Amherst/Bedford list. We had a busy holiday season followed by a seemingly never ending flu/cold season! I have finished "T,U, and V" and Carrie Hoffert of the Amherst list is kindly completing "W & Y" which will be posted soon. The list is temporarily located on my Magann family website till donated to rootsweb and transferred to my Amherst Co records site in the works. Hopefully, I can get that done shortly. As noted on the site: The list is from the Alexander Brown papers at Swem Library, College of William and Mary- Special Collections Dept. It is a partial list of those who settled in Old Albermarle prior to 1761, Old Amherst prior to 1776, and some Bedford French/Indian War soldiers. I do not know any more about the list than is presented on the site. Some of Brown's names have numbers beside them that do not match the source list. Since some have a "p" beside them, it is speculated that they are page numbers of a source only beknownst to Brown. Janet
