Quick questions folks.... Seeking only knowledge regarding the existance of any Court Order Records in the Albemarle Co., VA Courthouse for data prior to 1840. Does anyone have knowledge if such records exist there at this Courthouse??? Thanks for assistance. Jim James F. Carver 610 Gay Street, Box 214 Portsmouth, Ohio 45662-0214 e-mail: heritage@zoomnet.net
For starters: Dr. George K. Schweitzer, in his 1995 volume on VA research, states court orders are available in the court house for 1744-8, 1783-5, 1791-1804, 1806-31. I, too, would be interested in hearing from anyone who has been to the court house and knows if the orders have been indexed and/or microfilmed.
