OK, now for my muddy contribution Many years ago in the early beginning of my research, I found this story about the founding of the name of MINOR in my lines. A man named Meindert Doodes or Doodas came to America from Holland and when he had a son he wanted to be very American so he named his son Doodes Minor as he considered himself Doodes Major. And Major & Minor mean Sr. & Jr. in Holland, or did at that time (1610-1640) And I too puzzle over the various Sr. & Jr. notations in my research. By the way about 1997 I found out a mailing list could be made for the county of interest at Rootsweb and so Karen gave me this list for Albemarle county of Virginia, I am so glad to see that it is alive and doing well.
