    1. [VAALBEMA] BRADLEY DOWELL SHIFLETT & WOOD
    2. JA
    3. BRADLEY DOWELL SHIFLETT & WOOD in Orange County, these folks farmed along Preddy's Creek which divides Albemarle & Orange Counties For those who wanted the marriage, I have info herein included: Elizabeth BRADLEY m. John DOWELL liscense 23dec1799 Bondsman Richard DOWELL Wit. Alexander GARRETT d/o William BRADLEY, who consents Wit. Richard DOWELL & Richard BRADLEY Min. Hamilton GOSS 26dec1799 My hypothesis: As William BRADLEY who consented is most likely my GGGG Grandfather. The services for three or four of the BRADLEY & WOOD marriages were "solemnized" by the Rev. GOSS. From the BRADLEY book by Wendell Bradley, the 3 sons of Wm. are listed but the 4 spots for the girls have no names nor info. Wm. consented to his daughter Sarah BRADLEY to wed Hezekiah WOOD and I know Sarah was my GGG Grandmother. A few days back, while going through some papers(in my possession for 2 years tch-tch) from a fellow WOOD searcher, and after having more knowledge of this family, I noticed the above info which came from Stewart Estes WOOD. Stewart found the info in "Albemarle Va. Marriages 1780-1853" by John Vogt. SO, as there is no info on the Sarah's 3 sisters, I thought i'd see if Elizabeth might just be one of them. If so there are only two to go. It is easy to see the DOWELLs, BRADLEYs & WOODs are quite mingled in marriages. I don't have SHIFLETT but for those who do have SHIFLETT; this AM while trying to organize some of WOOD BRADLEY papers, I came upon one page from the 1810 tax list for Orange from which I am listing the SHIFLETTs: Below are all SHIFLETTs: Shiflett, John. 1 0 6 , Bland. 1 0 2 , Richard 1 0 0 , Larking 1 0 1 , Bland 1 0 1 , Overton 1 0 1 , Stephen 1 0 1 , John jr, 1 0 1 It appears that there were two Blands?
