    2. The connection? Well, for starters, in transcribing old handwritten documents (wills, deeds, etc.) often a word is very hard to read, and the way the word is used in the document will give clue that it is a "legal" meaning...using what letters I can, this dictionary may help. when a word is used that is not understood (by me) I turn to the book. the book may give alternative words that are used more often or more recently.. I heard about the book in a genealogy seminar many years ago and was lucky to find a reasonably priced old copy. that enough?
