Dear List Members, I'm trying to research and document a John WHITE and his wife Ann who is said to have been a WISDOM. John White was said to have been a son of John "Conyers" WHITE who died in England, but I haven't been able to prove this yet. The John WHITE I'm trying to accurately document through courthouse records and VA State records, was said to have been born in England in 1696, lived in King & Queen Co., VA where he met his wife Ann (WISDOM?), and later moved his family to Orange County, VA, possibly stopping for a while in Caroline County, VA (unless the county lines changed over the years). John died in Orange Co. in 1787 leaving a Will naming his children. I have not seen this Will, so I'm looking for a copy of it along with any records peratining to the probating and settling of this Will and Estate. Does anyone have copies of all these Estate records on file in Orange County? I'm descended from his son Thomas WHITE who married Sarah Shelton, d/o Henry SHELTON who died in Albemarle County, VA in 1799, a descedant of the SHELTONS of "Rural Plains" in Hanover Co., VA. I am also interested in collecting documents pertaining to Thomas WHITE and his wife Sarah SHELTON . I know nothing of where they died and are buried, nor have I found any of their Estate papers yet. I feel they may have died in Elbert or Wilkes County, GA, but I haven't confirmed this yet. I'd also like to prove the relationship between John WHITE of Orange Co. and the other WHITES who lived in Orange and Caroline County, namely Jeremiah WHITE and RIchard WHITE who show up in many old 18th century records in the aformentioned counties in VA. Any help in locating documentation on these men would be helpful. I'm big on documentation, so if anyone has copies of actual records or the proper references of where documents are recorded (i.e. volume and page number of the record book) for weach person mentioned above, I would be forever greatful. Any help is appreciated, but I'm not really interested in undocumented databases, online or off, because of all the conflicting "theories", and not "facts", I seen recently on the WHITE, SHELTON, and OLIVER Families of Central VA.
