    1. Re: [VAALBEMA] Taylors
    2. Carol: I have a Wylie Taylor in my line. I don't have too much information on him, but he married Nancy McFaddin and his daughter, Annie Lee Taylor, b. 1889, married James Samuel Clark in Nelson County, VA. So, there may be some connection. I was doing some research in Buckingham County the other day and I saw many Taylor names and McFadden too! Maybe you should look there for your man! Let me know if you ever get a Wylie Taylor in your line. I'd love to connect!! Brenda Clark Albemarle County, VA

    1. [VAALBEMA] Taylors
    2. I've been trying to track 4 TAYLORs found in the the 1810 Albemarle Co. Census to find out the names of their sons: George (26-45); James (45+); John (45+), and William (26-45) TAYLOR. I am in the hopes that one of these four will be the father of: My (3) gr. grandfather, Thomas Taylor, b. 1781 and d. in 1861 in Nelson County, VA. He died in probate and no information given. Thomas was first located in the 1810 Amherst Co Census Then located in 1820 through 1860 Nelson Co. Census. The 1810 Amherst Co Census lists the following Taylor's also: Jeremiah (45+); James (45+); William (45+); Daniel (26-45); Frances (45+); Edward Sen (45+); George (26-45); Moses (45+); George (26-45); John (45+); and John (26-45). If anyone has information as to the sons of ANY of the above (even if not Thomas) please let me know so I can eliminate that individual from my searches. Thanks for any help you might be able to provide. Carol

    2. Trueman Farris
    3. Where can I find a history/ies of the development of the historic town of Milton, VA, on the south side of the Rivanna River near Charlottesville and of the proposed town of North Milton just across the Rivanna? These towns were developed ca 1785-1800. Would state legislation have been involved? If so, how can I find these records? I have some information from Rev. Woods' book. Thank you, Trueman Farris.

    2. Martha Miller
    3. Does anyone know anything about Ruebin Graves b. ca 1815 m. Mary Frances Lyon in 1844 Nelson Co, VA. They lived in Albemarle Co, VA too. Ruebin worked as an overseer until 1858 when they moved to Pike Co, MO. He died in 1863 along with 4 of the 6 children in a Scarlet Fever epidemic. I would like to know his and Mary's parents and so on. In a store account record it shows that he bought a glass of whiskey for his brother and shoes for his nephew. Any help on either Ruebin or Mary would be appreciated. Thanks, Martha Miller, Tulsa, OK __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 1. [VAALBEMA] Zachariah Peters' Ancestry
    2. We have been trying for some time to find & document the ancestry of my gggg grandfather Zachariah Peters. Zachariah Peters married Keziah Lively on 18 November 1794 in Amherst County, VA. On the marriage bond he is listed as Zacharias. Some people claim Zachariah to actually be "Jacob" Zachariah. But presently no documentation has been uncovered in which the name Jacob is used. Zachariah's father may have carried the surname of Peter instead of Peters. But this has not been proven either. Zachariah is found listed as a witness on a deed along with an Elisha Peters. This is a very important document to date, as it is the only place we have found Zachariah listed with a contemporary of the same surname. This is probable evidence, be it only circumstantial, that Zachariah was somehow related to Elisha. Information on the deed is as follows: Amherst County, VA Deeds, 1761-1807, page 129: 7 Feb 1800. RICH. BREEDLOVE & wife MILDRED, to NELSON ANDERSON for $300, 180 acres branches S fork Rockfish. Lines: JNO. BALL, WM. KEY, Glade Road, WM. CABELL, JAS. NEVIL. THOS. KEYS. Wit: ZACH. NEVIL, ELISHA PETERS, ZACH. PETERS, CAREL EADS. Marriage records for those listed in the deed have been searched for a possible connection to Zachariah or his wife, Keziah Lively. Marriage information found is as follows: Richard Breedlove - Milley Watts 12/23/1789 Albermale County Nelson Anderson - Agness Crawford 3/18/1799 Amherst County John Ball - Susanna Hensley 12/7/1805 Albermale County William Waller Key - Elisabeth Alford 12/20/1790 Amherst County William H. Cabell, Jr. - Elizabeth Cabell 4/6/1795 Amherst County Charles Eades - Sarah Bowler 8/3/1782 Amherst County Elisha Peters - Jane Tiller 6/1/1792 Amherst County Elisha Peters - Cynthia Turner 2/17/1806 Amherst County We do not know if the 2 Elisha Peters, listed as marrying both Jane Tiller & Cynthia Turner, were different people or the same person. No appropriate marriage information on Thomas Keys was found. More circumstantial evidence, that Zachariah might be related to Elisha, comes from tax records. Zachariah is found listed in Amherst County tax records in close proximity to Elisha & James Peters. In a research report, Andrew S. Webb writes the following: "Zachariah PETERS was born between 1765 & 1770 in Virginia. He likely moved to Amherst County, Virginia from another Virginia County in 1793, marrying in Amherst County the following year. It is likely that Zachariah was the brother of Elisha and James PETERS, who lived near him in Amherst County, as shown by tax records." Amherst County marriage information on the three possible brothers is recorded as follows: Peters, Zacharias, bachelor, and Kesiah Lively, spinster, Nov 18, 1794.  Austin Woody surety.  Certificate of marriage by Rev. Ezekiel Campbell.    Peters, Elisha, Bachelor, & Jane Tiller, spinster June 1 1792.  Charles Watts surety.   Peters, James, Bachelor, & Elizabeth Stevens, spinster, March 11 1793.  Barnett Stevens Surety & consent of Barnett Stevens. Because of the changing of county lines through history, information on Zachariah Peters, his ancestry & descendants may also be found in Albemarle, Goochland, Louisa, Hanover or Nelson Counties of VA. Can anyone help us find the parentage of Zachariah Peters? Thank you in advance for any information or guidance. I look forward to reading your E-mails. Sincerely, Mike Peters npeters102@aol.com

    1. [VAALBEMA] Peter/Peters Surname in Rev. War
    2. The first mention of my gggg grandfather, Zachariah Peters, on a legal document is his nuptial with Keziah Lively, my gggg grandmother, on 18 November 1794. From his wedding date, I have estimated Zachariah's birth at circa 1770-1778. If this is true, then that would place his father at the appropriate age for service in the Revolutionary War. Just a hunch. Does anyone have any information on those of the Peter/Peters surname from VA who served in the 13 Colonies fight for independence. I am especially interested in those from the Amherst/Albemarle area. Thank you in advance for any information or guidance. I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Mike Peters npeters102@aol.com

Who was Henry Lyman? About what era? I'm not in the area, but ran a quick check in the index of Woods' "Albemarle County in Virginia, " and Moore's "Albemarle, Jefferson's County 1727-1976" and see no reference to Lyman or Community House in either book. 2. Donna Trewitt
    3. I have a Phoebe R. Brown daughter of John Brown and Sarah (Sally) Rives who I believe were from Franklin County, Virginia. Phoebe was married to Doctor Pearson in 1814 in Franklin County. She died about 1816, probably in Franklin County undocumented information I received from another researcher. I realize this is not Albemerle County, but thought with all the Brown discussion, somebody might know something about these Browns. I would like to find any information about Phoebe or her family.
