I have a relative who's name is on a deed who would have been 17/18 unless the name refers to his father who is suspected of using another name. I have run across a patent/deed for 1747 for a John and Robert. My question is: What would be the legal age for someone to buy/patent land, and could a son's name be included if he's under the legal age? Thank you in advance. Marcia
Parts of Louisa County were involved with the following three: Fredericksville Parrish, St. Martin's, and Trinity. Hanover had St. Martin's, and St. Paul's. Then Albemarle with Fredericksville, St. Anne's and Tillotson. (Ref. The Hornbook of Va. History) Good Luck, Wayne Dunn P.S. You still doing American Bandstand? :)
To James Rowan: Regarding DURRETT, I am interested to learn whether you have found information naming parents, place of birth of Bartholomew, Richard & John DURRETT. I have the information from The Virginia Genealogist on the DURRETT line, but like other DURRET researchers am stumped. I descend from Bartholomew DURRETT.
