The only Crow that I know for sure is my g g g grandmother- MARTHA JANE CROW b: 1826, who was married to James William Thomas. Sorry- wish I could have helped, Linda
Sandra Nolan Your message of May 08,1999 stated you have much Harvie/Harvey information-- any of them come to KY? My husband descends from Alexander Frazer/Frazier and Zuriah/ZurahAtchison , married Warren Co. Ky.May 27, 1827. They are buried in a family cemetery in the front yard of the homeplace now(in 1979) known as the Deavers farm. Tombstones in the plot are as follows: Zarah A. Frazier Died July 28,1888 Aged 85 yrs 3 mos 25 d Alexander Frazier Dec.16,1793 Died Aug.27,1858 Catherine Harvey 1784 1856 John Harvey 1786 1846 Pauling J. Woolfolk 1810 1890 Chilone Harvey 32 yrs. Paulina J Young 1845 1857 Sarah J Frazier 1828 Died Sept 12, 1865 Alexander Frazier and Zarah A Frazier (1850 Census)lists the following in the household: Sarah,22 f; George 20 m;Julet 17 f; Thomas 15 m; Nancy 13 f: Sam'l 10 m; and Theodore 6 m. I can account for all of the Frazier children. But I don't know who Catherine and John Harvey, Chilone Harvey, Pauling J. Woollfolk, and Paulina J. Young were or what relation they were to the Frazier family to be buried in the family plot. The homeplace and cemetery are in present day Hopkins Co. Ky, near a small community of Dalton, Ky. My husband descends from Thomas Alexander Frazier and Mary Jane Lynn, the parents of twelve children--eight boys and four girls. Any information on any of the above names would be greatley appreciated-- especially the Harvey, Woolfolks, and Youngs. Have seen the recent msgs re the Goochland Co GLASS family. Does anyone know a Martin GLASS b: abt 1775, VA & his daughter Susanna b: 1812. Susanna married James Salmon Feb 22, 1832 in Goochland Co. They were my 3rd GGPs. Thanks Lee Harvell
I'm looking for parents of Nancy GLASS who married Simeon JOLLETT in Orange County, VA 1822. Also I would like to know if there were any children born to this couple. Wendy http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/3048
Steve - I've seen the LDS entry for Francis Glass and Jacob Busby's marriage on 9 Nov 1815, but unfortunately, I cannot find those names in my data. who knows, it may be a connection I am not aware of. I consider it possible, as 90 percent of my ancestors (and present-day cousins) reside in and around Fluvanna. Dave Glass
Donna, Thanks! I should visit the Va GenWeb Project more often; the information there about county formations is very helpful! Thanks, also to you folks who mentioned the Doran book. I had wondered about purchasing that, & think I shall need it. You have all helped... I'm enjoying the list, and many of us are doing better with changing subject headings -- it does help! Evelyn [email protected]
If this is the right list this is for Susie Brian. Your address didn't work. No Risdon in they VA Book. Have you considered the name Risdon/Risden? In my "Index of the Rolls of Honor (Ancestors Index) Lineage of the D.A.R." book it list Daniel and Onesimus Risden, in the first vol. In the 2nd vol. there is a Corp. Josiah Risdon vol. 52 pager or line 448, 449. Then we find Onesimus Risdon vol. 42 286, vol. 64 2, vol. 65 347. Look, from the little research I've don't you just can't over look the Risdon/Risden name. You know they didn't spell like we did and may were illiterate. So write the DAR for copies you never know. In my Civil War book there are G.F Riston vol 16:75 and Kingston Riston vol 26: 178. In this Index to the Roll of Honor they list mostly Union dead.
Yes, I, too, would like this information. Thank you to all those who have answered my post on the information contained in CDs. I personally have never used them, though I have seen many people refer to them in replys and questions. I use the library, court documents, books, deeds, etc. and make copies of all information I can find. That way I know for a fact the information I have is documented and to the best of my knowledge factual--which is why I don't have much right now, but that will change in time. Thank you all again, Michelle and Good Luck in your searching.
To Don Hill: Well said...made goose pimples just reading <g>
Thanks for all of your help with Maplewood Cemetery. My next step is the Albermarle Co. Historical Society!
Noticed your postings on the surname GLASS. I wondered if you might have any information on Frances GLASS, daughter of David GLASS, who married in 1815 at Goochland Co. to Jacob BUSBY. A Patsey (Martha?) GLASS married to James BUSBY about the same time. Thanks. This is for all of the newbee tracing their family heritage."It is not bagging the quail it is the hunt that makes the fun of the chase". They turn out to be great Grand Parents and others, you would not have gotten off the computer. This is when the goose pimples jump up, when you realize they had walked in the same place not knowing you ever existed. I am a little different than most as I had the pleasure of visiting my great Grandfather when he was in the old soldiers home and talked about the Civil War escapades. Don't knock it if you haven't tried it. Don Hill

My apologies to the list. Due to technical difficulties, I am unable (temporarily) to send messages to AOL. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hi Alice, I didn't see your original message regarding Henry L. Byas. Would you mind sending me a copy of it? William Ludvil Byas/Bias/Byus, my great grandfather, was the son of Henry Linsey Byas and Cassandra/Cassanovia Vest. I am more than happy to share what information I have. Thanks, Cathy >Mr. Gray, > I apologize. I did not realize I had sent an attached file. I >recall sending many queries out by filling out a form. Would the person who asked about Virginia Lawhorns please contact me privately? Thank you.
Evelyn, This is my first time to respond so I hope I do this correctly. The following URL has maps of Va counties and the dates the were formed: http://www.rootsweb.com/~vagenweb You can click on different dates to see the progression of the counties.
