FARIS/FARRIS SNEED/SNEAD Thanks.
Thank you for the Anderson information. I wish I could connect the ANDERSON's to my BROWN's. My gr gr gr grandfather was Anderson BROWN. One of his grandsons was named Overton BROWN and one of his granddaughters was named Betty Overton BROWN. The father of Anderson BROWN was my gr gr gr gr grandfather, Andrew BROWN of North Garden. Andrew BROWN of North Garden married Mary (maiden name unknown). I wonder if she was a descendant of your Robert Anderson, II m. to Mary Overton? Do you have any Mary's in your line of ANDERSON who married an Andrew BROWN c. 1770-1780? This is a shot in the dark. When the subject of the Anderson surname came up this week I decided to present a road block that I have encountered. My great grandfather is Robert Anderson Lacy b. 1836 in Goochland m. April 19, 18?? Ann M. PROFITT. Died March 18, 1905 in Goochland. Robert Anderson LACY was the son of Edmund Terrill LACY and Eliza BURRUSS. My problem is that I can find nothing on Eliza BURRUSS or Ann M. PROFITT either. My shot in the dark is that it was common for one of the sons to carry the maiden name of one of the grandmothers. I am fairly confident that the Anderson did not originate from the TERRILL line. As I know nothing about the BURRUSS line I am hoping that it rings a bell with one of the Anderson Lines. Many thanks, in advance, for any effort given this problem. Regards, Mike Lacy
I missed the original post looking for Albemarle Hough's, but that person may want to contact Mrs. Charles R. Haugh (pronounced "Haw") in Charlottesville. She won't be difficult to find. He's an attorney (the office was on Park St., and may still be) and she's a national officer of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Anyway, Mrs. Haugh is a delightful lady, and I'm sure she'd be pleased to share anything she might have that would be useful to you. You'll want to write instead of calling, as she travels a great deal. good luck, Rosanna Bencoach Richmond

Debra, Thanks for the info. I am thinking that Lewis ANDERSON may be a cousin to my Anderson BROWN or something. Since my Anderson BROWN was named Anderson as a first name, I am thinking that maybe his mother was an ANDERSON, but I have no idea how my BROWN's connect. Just grasping at straws I suppose. Maybe the ANDERSON family were good friends of Anderson BROWN's parents, who knows? Hi, Franne & other newcomers! We have semi-annual "roll calls" in mid-April and mid-October. I just sent a message reminding the group. Of course, newcomers don't realize this, so a roll call was started in error. A roll call is when all members are invited to send message(s) about the names and families they are researching in Albemarle County over a period of a few days to see how many connections can be made. Naturally, with over 500 subscribers, we have to plan for roll calls, so subscribers don't get swamped with messages when they're not expected. :) Karen [email protected] ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, August 03, 1999 10:41 AM Subject: [VAALBEMA-L] Re: Roll Call > Dear Fellow Researchers, > > I am a relatively new subscriber to Vaalbema Rootsweb.
