    1. Re: [VAALBEMA-L] Roll Call: Hill, Harlow, Estes, Keyton
    2. P.S. to my cc. to you via Joanna6. A Larkin James Harlow (1813-1893) marr. Amanda Marian Bickley (1819- ) in 1835. He was the son of William Harlow and Elizabeth McGraw. He lived in Hanover Co. and died at Noel, Va. A son of his John W. Harlow (1848-) married a May Byers (according to one source) or Myers (which is what I read at the LOV). There is also a branch of Henrico Co. Harlows of whom one (a Larkin) moved after his marriage to Albemarle. One contact ([email protected]) has data on the Louisa line/s. A Mr. A. Hatcher Cole of Henrico Co. is of the Larkin James line. My father's line had Byers-Watts collaterals at least. He was only one of the eight siblings to have children. He (1902-1963) and all his sibs have been dead for many years. None of the above might answer your question but the name Larkin apparently was not as unusual as I once thought. DSH

    2. My father William Byers Harlow lived his early years at the northern Stony Point on the road to Barboursville (Rt.20). Parents were John W. Harlow and Mary (Mae) Byers. J.W. died in 1911 and the family moved to C'ville where one of dad's sisters Mahulda Jane (Aunt Janie) owned a restaurant on Main St. at the RR yards and down the block from the old hotel (can't think of name and it overlooked the RR to point N. I have hit a roadblock in determining who were J.W.'s parents and siblings. One of dad's sisters was Lillian who marr. a Harry Ray of Ivy; Aunt Janie marr. Frank Ward. His (dad's) parents and four brothers are at Riverview Cem. Would like to 'talk' with you if any of the above constitutes a 'hit'. Scott Harlow

    1. [VAALBEMA-L] BAYS 1740-1760
    2. Hi Rooters, I am searching for the BAYS family in Albemarle County. I have two brothers, Peter and William Bays, who were young children when their father Peter died in Henrico/Goochland County in 1729/30. They both appear in the Albemarle Court records in the 1740s and Peter may have married in Albemarle because he had a wife Sarah when he returned to Goochland County in 1744 to sell the land his father had left to him. Peter then purchased land in 1749 in Albemarle County and may have lived there until he sold the land in 1759. I am looking for any information about this family, especially a maiden name for Sarah and the names of the children, some of whom MAY have remained in the area. Thank you! Anne Bays (Richmond, Virginia)
