Dear List, The [email protected] and [email protected] has done some interesting work. The data base available is remarkable. The information would be in the Rootsweb-L archives and, of course, one could even for a short time to make Queries. Cheers, Wilma Kelly

Hi to all , Really enjoy this list....have been fortunate to be on several really nice ones and this is one of those. Thank you Karen for all you have done for us...it has been most appreciated. And a big thank you to Sandy for taking all of us present and future subscribers on. I am trying to locate any info on a Payne who married Ann Fitzhugh Rose Irvine widow of Walter Irvine..the marriage would have occured after 1810 and could even have been after 1815...my interest is that she was my ggggrandmother and the daughter of Col Patrick Rose ..I really need to locate any info that she might have left will or something naming her children by Walter Irvine..they were in Buckingham Co when their children were born and when he died but the estate was close to New Canton and possibly she could have married a Payne from Fluvanna or another surrounding Co. I do know that some as late as the 1820's some of his adminstrators had a suit in Buckingham Co ...an attorney by the name of Gordon in Amherst Co was involved in some way with this. Any info that might help would be appreciated. Mary Irvine Kennedy
Hello Yesterday I received a message asking me about how to obtain an 1800's map of Fluvanna Co. Because of family and business issues that need my full attention right now, I will no longer be able to manage the list. My hope is that one or more of you will assume responsibility for managing the list. It doesn't usually take a lot of time - primarily, there are times when someone will need help subscribing or unsubscribing. Several lists I know of have more than one person managing them, so sharing the responsibility might be an option for some of you. Naturally, if the new listowner continues roll calls in April and October, that would require 3 or 4 days, during those times, of monitoring the list more intensely and helping those who need to unsubscribe during the roll call. A listowner should be a contributor to RootsWeb (min. $12/year). Please contact me if you are interested. Thanks. That is one more disturbing thing about the Ancestral File. David Jr. and Rebecca had only 3 daughters, of whom you only list Mildred, the rest are children of Davis Jr and his 2nd wife Elizabeth Lockhart. I have made a major study of David and all of his children and it is not finished yet. Look at my web page and you will see the layout of the first three generations of the families. Again, which are you interested in? I am trying to find every great grandchild of david Jr. Maybe I need to have what you know for my report on David Jr. I now have 23 pages on him. This report is exactly what you are looking for and that is the reason I am doing it. To help genealogists looking for his family. www.fastlane.com,/~cjohnson/ Chester At 03:45 PM 08/07/1999 EDT, you wrote: >Chester, > >Thanks for answering my Query concerning David Lewis and Rebeccah Stovall. Tyree Rodes mentioned in a previous posting about the Harris/Harrison family (text below) was the son of John Rodes and Sarah Harris (1736-1803). Sarah Harris was the daughter of Mourning Glenn and Robert Harris. And, in the book Tennessee Cousins, I found this: "Tyrie Rhodes, son of John Rhodes and Mourning Glenn (see Woods Albermarle Co., pg. 221) was born Dec. 24 1771, removed to Giles Co., Tenn m. April 25 1811 to a Cynthia Holland (dau. of James Holland, whose father was William Holland and his wife Mary Harrison... James Harrison, an uncle of Tyrie Rhodes and brother of his mother Sarah Harrison had a dau. Sarah Harris, first cousin of Tyrie Rhodes who married James Harrison and moved to S.C. and had a son named Tyrie Harrison." Kathy Wilcox
