    1. Re: [VAALBEMA-L] PAGE family
    2. Hi Debbie, I am so happy to hear from you in regards to the CAMPBELL and PAGE family of Albemarle Co. VA. I have just found that Joseph & Amanda (?) CAMPBELL were parents of Frances (Fannie) Campbell Lewis. It is my understanding that the family plantation was named "Findowrie". ABt. the right dates you are also looking for. Another researcher, Mike contacted me inregards to the CAMPBELL's also from Spotsylvania Co. (two or three counties over from Albemarle). No doubt they are related. I will send you the cc: of the correspondence I had with Mike earlier today. Perhaps, we can team up and work on these CAMPBELL's........ ? I look forward to hearing from you. 2. Diane, There are three volumes to this set. Rockingham is not in the volume from which I have excerpts. If you go to the Iberian Publishing House website (just do a regular search, I don't know the URL), and enter Roger Ward as the author, I am told that it tells which counties are in which books. 1. [VAALBEMA-L] Half-Way-House
    2. Hi to every one. This is my first try to obtain help to obtain information from you residents or prior residents of the State of Virginia and Roots Web. Iam trying verify the original owner of the Hald-Way-House which was first built in 1760, supposable by William Hatcher, who was b. abt 1690, m.1710, d. 1770. The Half-Way-House was built on ,now 1 or 301, between Petersburg and Richmond, Chesterfield County Virginia. I hav e read it was a must stop for travelers between Petersburg and Richmond and other destinations in route. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry and Charles Dickens, were mentioned as among the early guests. I also mentioned it was first built in 1760, because it was reconstructed later in the 18th century a few miles away. I would like to verify the first owner to insure that William Hatcher, due to his b,m,and d dates, was the first owner. His death date makes me uncertain. I will welcome an all comments. Please help. e-mail VFWWood ED.

    2. Brenda, I am new to this list and I too am researching the CAMPBELL names from Albemarle, who later moved to Amherst. Along with CAMPBELL I am researching MAYS from both places. I am stuck on Bartholomew CAMPBELL B. abt. 1795 d. 1827 in Amherst County. He married Tabitha Mays on March 28, 1820, in Amherst. Both of their parents were from Albemarle. Not sure were Bartholomew and Tabitha were born. Bartholomew and Tabitha had at least one known child named James Anderson CAMPBELL b. 5-19-1823 and d. 1906. He moved to Buchanon, VA which later became WV. There is a Leroy Campbell that is believed to be a son of Bartholomew and Tabitha. It is believed that Bartholomew comes from a CAMPBELL line with the first name of George (four of them in a row before Bartholomew). I just returned from Amherst and have some information on the CAMPBELL's that once lived in Albemarle but was changed to Amherst when Amherst became a County from Albemarle. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance, Debbie Campbell-Mullinax
