    3. Here is the promised posting of John Farrar's will. Debra Miller Albemarle Co. Will Book #2, page 244; Will of John Farrar, father of John, Perrin, Catharine Joplin, Sarah Spencer, William, Peter, Elizabeth, Thomas and Richard. In the name of God Amen. The twenty first day of October One thousand seven hundred and sixty four according to the computation of the Church of England, I, John Farrar of the parrish of St. Anns and County of Albemarle, being in perfect memory and remembrance, praise be to God, do make and ordain this my last will and Testament in manner and form following Viz. First I bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God my maker, hoping that through the meritorious death and passion of Jesus Christ, my only saviour and redeemer to receive free pardon and forgiveness of all my sins and as for my body, to buried in Christian burial at the discretion of my Executor hereafter nominated. I give to my son Perrin Farrar, the plantation wherein he now lives with half the land on that side (of) the river wherein he now lives to be divided, beginning at the horse ford as after called Kirbys field and running across the spring branch extending to the back line containing two hundred acres more or less, also one negro man named Sam. It is my will that my two daughters Catharine Joplin & Sarah Spencer and my son John Farrar content themselves with the portions I have already given them. I give to my son William Farrar one negro boy named Jim, I give to my son Peter Farrar two negro girls named Luce & Nan. I give to my son Thomas Farrar one negro man named Peter and one negro girl named Beck. I give to my daughter Elizabeth Farrar one negro girl named Moll and one negro boy named Bob. I give to my son Richard Farrar the remainder of my lands containing five hundred & eighty five acres and six negroes named Agg, Betty, Peter, Ned, and & (?). It is my will that he keep and maintain his mother. I also give my son Richard Farrar all my household furniture & all my stock cattle hogs and horses & I make him my sole Executor to execute this my last will and Testament. It is my will that if my son William Farrar die without issue that his boy Jim return to his brother Peter Farrar & in case that any of the rest of my children die without issue that their portion be equally divided amongst the survivors. Debra Miller Albemarle County, Virginia Deed Book 18, Page 357 This indenture made this eight day of April one thousand eight hundred and thirteen between Susannah Farrar of Albemarle County of the one part and John Shelton of Louisa County of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Susannah Farrar in consideration of the sum of forty pounds of lawful money of this Commonwealth the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, has bargained and sold by these presents does bargain and sell unto the said John Shelton his heirs and assigns all her rights, title and interest in the tract of land now in the occupation of Martha Lucas of Louisa County that the said Martha by her deceased father, William Shelton, to have and to hold the said interest herein before mentioned, intended to be bargained and sold and every part thereof unto the said John Shelton, his heirs and assigns forever and the said Susannah Farrar for herself and her heirs the said interest before mentioned unto the said John Shelton his heirs and assigns, free from the claim or claims of them the said Susannah Farrar, her heirs and of all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall, will and does warrant and forever defend by these presents.     3. Boy, I'm a busy bee today - this Farrar family is a line I'm connected to and I have several more deeds to follow later. Hope this is helpful to someone. Debra Miller Albemarle County, Virginia, Deed Book 19, pages 424 & 425 Names mentioned: Samuel Leake & Sophia, Robert S. Farrar, John L. Farrar, heirs of Richard Farrar, Joseph Farrar, Shelton Farrar. Selling their interest in land inherited from their father, Richard Farrar, to their brother Joseph. This Indenture made this eleventh day of September in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and fifteen between Shelton Farrar, Samuel Leake and Sophia his wife late Sophia Farrar, Robert S. Farrar and John L. Farrar, heir's and representatives of Richard Farrar deceased late of Albemarle of the one part and Joseph Farrar of Albemarle County of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Shelton Farrar, Samual Leake and Sophia his wife late Sophia Farrar, Robert S. Farrar and John L. Farrar for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and ninety seven pounds good and lawful money of Virginia, to them in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged both bargained and sold and do by these presents bargain and sell (?) and confirm unto the said Joseph Farrar and his heirs all their right, title and interest in a certain tracts, tract, parcels or parcel of land whereon Richard Farrar, deceased, late of Albemarle County, lived at the time of his decease and adjoining the lands of William Bailey, Benjamin Harris, James Norvelle, Estate of Mathew (?) and John L. Farrar and lying on the North side of the Rockfish River, to have and to hold the said Interest in said land with all and any appartenances to him, the said Joseph Farrar, his heirs and assigns forever and the said Shelton Farrar, Samuel Leake and Sophia his wife late Sophia Farrar do by these presents forever warrant and defend the right and title to their said Interest in said land, Viz ?.....tract, parcel or parcels of land to him the said Joseph Farrar, his heirs and assigns forever.     3. Here's another deed from Albemarle Co. I've found a little bit of genealogy on this Thomas family which I've included. Debra Miller Not my line - but I had copied it just in case - waste not want not. This is a Deed of Gift from Molly Lewis to her granddaughter Mary Thomas. Mary was the d/o Charles L. Thomas (s/o John Thomas & Frances Lewis) and Margaret M. Lewis (d/o Nicholas Lewis & Margaret). Deed of Gift Know all men by these presents that I, Molly Lewis of the County of Albemarle for and in consideration of the love, good will and affection which I have and do bear to my loving granddaughter Mary Thomas, have given and granted and by these presents do freely give and grant unto the said Mary Thomas and her heirs one negro girl named Joice (daughter of Amy) about fifteen years of age, which negro before the signing of these presents I have delivered her the said Mary Thomas, to have and to hold and her heirs forever together with her future increase to the said Mary and her heirs. These Thomas family members are not related to the Thomas' I am researching (at least as far as I know). I have a few more documents which refer to them which I will send to the list, but nothing more. Debra Miller Researching: Dameron, Damron, Michael Thomas family, Anderson, Loving & others. Deed Book 19, page 459, Albemarle Co. Bill of Sale Know all men by these presents that I, Charles L. Thomas, of the county of Albemarle for the natural affection and love which I have for my daughter Mary Thomas and more especially for the sum of two hundred dollars to me in hand paid by Molly Lewis, have granted bargained and sold Mary M. Thomas one negro named Betsey, daughter of Rachel, about eight years old, to have the said negro girl and future increase unto the said Mary M. Thomas, her heirs forever and the Charles L. Thomas, for himself, his heirs ancestors and administrators against the claim of himself, his heirs and against the claim of all person or persons will forever warrant and defend the title to the negro girl and her future increase and the said Mary Thomas, her heirs executors.     3. Hello All, I am looking for information regarding a DAVIS family in Albemarle VA back around 1782. After Ephriam (Enoch) Davis was killed in the Battle of Guilford Courthouse in 1781... his children William age 4, James age2, and a girl named Frances, were raised by their Uncle JONATHAN DAVIS in Albemarle VA. Later James and His Uncle went to the Boone Settlement in KY, and then to Lincoln Co. KY, where James married a Nancy HAWKINS in 1797. They then migrated to Washington Co. IN.
