Dear friends, cousins and fellow researchers, In Huntsville, AL we have a huge cemetery called, Maple Hill, where over 15,000 are buried. Each year the Pilgrimage Association sponsors the 'Cemetery Stroll' and the 'Spirits' come alive and stand at their grave and greet visitors and tell about themselves. Well, this year I portrayed Virginia Shepherd Cabaniss who married Septimus D. Cabaniss a lawyer, who was born December 18, 1815 in Montgomery County, AL. His parents were from Lunenburg County, VA and they located near Huntsville in 1810. Septimus was educated at Green Academy and the University of Virginia. His father was Charles Cabaniss who built the first Cotton Gin and mill in Madison County. Septimus married Virginia Shepherd. Her maternal grandparents was Daniel and Annie (Ainsworth) Eversole who lived in Fauquier County, VA, who was of Dutch Ancestry. I don't remember seeing this name on our LIST, but if anyone would like information on either of these families, CABANISS OR SHEPHERD, just let me know. Regards, Margaret
