An old man was returning home late one cloudy, moonless night when his horse suddenly stopped. No amount of coaxing or whipping could make the horse take one more step. Finally, the man got out of the buggy, took hold of the harness, and tried pulling the horse along the road. He promptly fell into a sink hole. They found them the next morning, the old man in the bottom of the hole, only slightly worse for wear, and the horse standing, patiently waiting. Joyce
