Can anyone enlighten me or direct me to a source for information on pensions granted to widows of Confederate veterans. My great grandmother in Virginia was granted a pension in 1908. My great grandfather had served in a Virginia regiment during the Civil War and died of causes unrelated to the War in 1904. I am interested in what qualified her for this pension. Especially, did their marriage have to take place prior to the end of the War.
