Thank you, Brownie, for the information regarding Williams, Jouett, and Wingfield from your book SOME ANCIENT LANDOWNERS IN ST. MARTIN'S PARISH HANOVER COUNTY, VIRGINIA by Norine Campbell Gregory. Upon reading a review of this book in a recent issue of Newsletter of the Virginia Genealogical Society, I purchased the book, but I was sorely disappointed in the research (or lack thereof) of the family of John Williams of Hanover Co., previously of Henrico Co., part of the latter county becoming Goochland Co. Of course, the researcher had compiled this information for her own use and really not for publication. All of us gather secondary and traditionary material, but I guess I am extra cautious: I try NOT to draw conclusions based on tradition, or if I do I clearly label it tradition, and I try in every way possible to either prove or disprove the tradition. Some of the material in the referenced book contains sources, but MUCH of it does not. I kind of wish I had not purchased the book. But, to be fair, I should go over the material for persons who MAY have been neighbors of the Williamses and others of my lineage who clustered there. E.W.Wallace
