    1. [VA-SOUTHSIDE-L] Ancestry Daily Newsletter
    2. Although I am not currently a subscriber to any of the databases offered by Ancestry.com, I do subscribe to their Daily Newsletter, which is free, even to non-subscribers. Of course, much of it advertises Ancestry.com products, including the online databases, but there is a daily column, generally (if not consistently) by George G. Morgan, a professional genealogist. His columns are well-written, full of ideas, and this day it is full of Thanksgiving thanks given in behalf of all genealogists, but he speaks specifically for himself. Today he lists all the things that he as a genealogist is thankful for, and the list is long. An example, he is thankful the Social Security Administrations's vast databases and the Soundex and Miracode which allow us to access later censuses, and also to all the persons who make accessible microfilms of records for us genealogists to search There are many other items also. Although many persons are anti-Government these days (too much taxes, we say), we should thank the US government for the internet. My friend, now deceased, who has written many biographies, said he as an employee of the Defense Department used the internet for many years in his capacity with the Defense Department. I suggest you subscribe to this newsletter, at least for a time. I am sure you insert -Request in the address just preceding the @ mark. Just a suggestion. [email protected]
