    3. Hello, Janet Hunter and others--Janet, I don't know anything about your Harrells but I have a somewhat similar situation, with my Robert Pryor. He was son of John Pryor (1694-1771, b.VA d. NC) and Margaret Gaines (b.ca 1700 VA, d. ca 1780 NC). He moved to NC ca 1755, m. Patience Lewis Pope. Robert was b. ca 1720 in VA, Patience b. ca 1730 in NC. Robert died INTESTATE, in 1771, in Granville Co, NC. In May 1772, Thos. Mutter & Co was appt. admin. of the estate. Not until 1780 was a guardian appt. for Robert's 4 children, Absalom, Olive, ELIZABETH and Pleasant. I'm trying to trace Elizabeth, I think she returned to VA by 1787, possibly to family, (Pryors, or Gaines's or Greene's, her paternal grandparents) in time to marry Joseph Grammer, in Charlotte Co., in 1787. The guardian appt. in 1780 was Robert's brother, John Henry Pryor. But in 1784, he was removed as guardian. In 1785, Willis Roberts was appt. guardian of Pleasant, the youngest son. I have no record of whether Eliz. was also under his guardianship, possibly she was of age. Can you tell me about accessing the probate records of NC, is there anything on line?? I feel sure Elizabeth received an inheritance, both her father Robert and grandfather John were generous with their children. And possibly records would say when she came of age, and was "released" from guardianship! I have the book "A Pryor Family Narrative" but Elizabeth, and her sister Olive, are untraced. I want to prove that this Elizabeth Pryor is indeed the one who married Joseph Grammer. Any info much appreciated! Helen Stewart

    3. I just happened to be searching USGenWeb, NC site and when your email arrived, Helen, just for fun, under NC, I plugged in Pleasant Roberts, and guess what, this popped up: Qualls, Samuel Cynthia Nelson 10 June 1806 Pleasant Roberts Pleasant was the witness in the above - Orange County, VA marriage bonds. Our family had a Pleasant Lankford in Buncombe County, NC. He was a handsome fellow!! I always thought the name Pleasant was a 'pleasant' name. A man's name in our line.
