I have quite a few Lunenburg County Virginia deed transcriptions within my files. So..... in response to G. Lee Hearl to "... wake up!" ... I submit the deed below. One of the witnesses, Thomas Liverett, is my ancestor. I welcome an exchange of information on the Liverett line. Charlotte Tucker Tuscaloosa, AL ------------------------------ This Indenture made this fourteenth day of September one thousand seven hundred and seventy between William Puryear of the province of North Carolina and County of Granville of the one part and John Hightower of the Province of Virginia and County of Lunenburg of the other part witnesseth that the said William Puryear for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred pounds current money of Virginia to him in hand paid the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and himself therewith fully satisfied hath granted bargained sold aleined and confirmed and by these presents for himself and his heirs doth grant,bargain sell alien and confirm unto the said John Hightower his heirs and assigns forever, one certain tract or parcel of land containing by estimation one hundred acres be the same more or less situate lying and being the county of Lunenburg and province of Virginia on a branch of Hounds Creek and bounded as follows Viz Beginning at the mouth of a branch on Hayses li! ne at a beach thence up the said branch to the head to a poplar thence a straight line to the Road, thence up the said road as it meanders to Hayses line on a Red oak, then along Hayses line to the Beginning with all and every the ... appurtances thereunto belonging unto him the said John Hightower his heirs executors forever the said William Puryear for himself his heirs executors administrators and assigns ... and assigns shall and will forever defend from him the said William Puryear his heirs executors administrators or assigns and form the challenge claim and demand of any person or persons whatsoever In witness whereof the said William Puryear hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above written.
