Hello Everyone, With regard to the following message, I highly recommend that Nel subscribe to the Richmond Co NC list, to which I am a subscriber. It is excellent and has several very knowledgeable persons who know the history of Richmond and its parent, Anson Co. NC, inside and out, include perhaps insights into the question raised. What I do know, as my Louisa/Caroline Co. VA ancestors (Clarke, Haley, Medlock/Matlock, Stone) migrated there over a period of 20 years. When they first arrived they were involved in activities surrounding the basic stripping of the forests for wood, most of which was used in/up by the Rev. War. Then that land was planted in cotton, which also worked out well. (My group left for Robertson Co. TN in 1805/6, one family I am told (but question) because there were still too many Tories (probably Quakers) in the neighborhood.) Good Luck!
