    3. We all know of the diligence and sincerity of the Society, the local officals of the county and of all sincere historians and genealogoists, and I recall NO comment that has in any way been critical of any of those fine folks. Moreover, as have many, many others, I too have used and enjoyed the Order Books and surely the fine abstracts of those great books by Ms. Haun. The problem is that the Loose Papers - not the order books - are not open to the public and have not been for the 20 plus years that I have known of those and visited there for research. I personally have offered time and SOME money for that purpose and do so again here and now. Since the county has neither the funds nor the staff to accomplish this vital task, I say again that we should gain permission of the county for select individuals - the Society folks would be fine - to work with those records, and then see if any of us would undertake work or help to finance the photographing in order that the Society, Ms. Haun or someone of equal experience, knowledge and care will do the abstracting for whatever gain it, she or whoever might enjoy. If there are present plans or another way to gain abstracts or film for those of us at a distance, I and many others would like to hear of such. Paul Drake
