David, I am most interested in Francis Thornton. Also interested in the Catlett, Mnu, Talifaferro, Presley, Hawkins and Mott. It is interesting that I am a descendant of all of the above families, but pick them up from earlier generations. For us to be successful, we probably need to understand all of the generations. I have a cousin who is a Strother generation. Thanks Jim Burgess Ugh I have to go to work! -----Original Message----- From: va-northern-neck-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:va-northern-neck-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of DAVID BROWN Sent: Sunday, January 20, 2013 10:02 PM To: va-northern-neck@rootsweb.com Subject: [VA-NORTHERN-NECK] Fw: Re: William Strother & Connections to George Proctor and Proctor's Son-in-Law Elias Sharp --- On Sun, 1/20/13, DAVID BROWN <dbrown544@prodigy.net> wrote: From: DAVID BROWN <dbrown544@prodigy.net> Subject: Re: [VA-NORTHERN-NECK] William Strother & Connections to George Proctor and Proctor's Son-in-Law Elias Sharp To: va-northern-neck@rootsweb.com Date: Sunday, January 20, 2013, 10:52 PM Hi Jim, Not sure if it's relevant to your research, but William Strother sold land to my ancestor George Proctor in 1725 per the record posted below (hope the link pasted below still works). George Proctor's son-in-law, Elias Sharp, was witness to the will of William Thornton, which you have posted as well. George Proctor's wife was Mary MNU. We have speculated that Mary (wife of George Proctor) may have had maiden name of Francis; however, a more recent theory is that Mary MNU, wife of George Proctor, may have been the daughter of Edward Price & wife Anne whose maiden name was supposedly Bourne. Anne (Bourne) Price married secondly to Walter Francis who deeded land to George Proctor. In 1696, one of the witnesses named to the will of Edward Price was Andrew Bourne, whose wife was Christian Taliaferro (after the death of Andrew Bourne, Christian married secondly to Henry Johnson, whose daughter Elizabeth, I believe, married John Bourne, whose daughter Christian Bourne married William Tapp and had land record witnessed by Elias Sharp, son-in-law of George Proctor and Mary MNU).
