I did not check all of Linda's statements about the Heales/Hales, but in long dealings with her I rarely found any misstatements of fact; even her properly labeled conjectures usually panned out. She was a meticulous researcher and I miss our exchanges greatly. If you have any further questions about specific Fox relatives, I'll see what I have in my database. -- Kathleen Much The Book Doctor
Kathleen, Thanks. I should have been more specific as to which of the daughters of Capt. George Heale & wife Catherine Chinn that William Fox named in his 1717 will. All of them were unmarried, and were: Elizabeth, Ellen, Sarah He did not name any of these other children and probably only meant them when he named "all of the daughters of Capt. George Heale" as residual legatees to his nephew David Fox. As for Fox, I think I've got them sorted out, though with respect to Samuel Fox (David-2, David-1) I am not certain that his wife was Ann DAINGERFIELD. That conclusions rests on her will naming her "brother" William Daingerfield, though could also mean "brother-in-law." In his 1918 article on the Fox Family, Lyon G. Tyler thought she "may" be a PAYNE. Though his evidence for that was not given. To the known children of Samuel & Ann Fox can be added a daughter "Letty" named in the will of David-2 Fox as his granddaughter, daughter of his son Samuel. (This got left out for some reason in Ida J. Lee's abstracts of Lancaster County wills.) Likewise, the now-found will of Hannah Ball Fox also names a granddaughter "Lotty" Fox. So, of the three known children of Samuel & Ann Fox, only survived to adulthood, and she was Frances Fox who married (1) Charles Burgess and (2) Jesse Ball.
