We have not talked about this for sometime, but I wanted to give all of you an update on what the Mary Ball Washington Museum & Library has done/ is doing with the voluminous papers of the late the Doris Davison, genealogist of the Northern Neck, whose family donated them to us. (1) the library ordered a special stamp saying "Doris Davison Collection" for all of the papers that were: (2) interfiled in existing family files (i.e. vertical files, loose papers) already at the library. These were for Northern Neck families (3) three large boxes remained for "out of area" research she did. These have not yet been cataloged but will remain a separate collection. A typed list of the contents, by box, has been done. They will be cataloged by surname with the notation as to which box they are in. The boxes are at the library. For example, in Box #2, are three folders just on the Northcutt family. Since that happens to be one of my lines, I immediately perked up on this. We hope to make this available on our on-line catalog in the near future. Keep in mind that much of this material is what Ms. Davison found in already published books, and there is quite a bit of personal correspondence that is not necessarily revealing (receipts, bills and invoices), and final and compiled reports are rare. These are working papers. Still, this should be a great boon to many researchers. Your Friend, Craig Kilby
