Thank you, Craig, for your post on religious freedom. All of us are familiar with Roger Williams, but the Northern Neck's own Baptist minister, John Leland. His influence on James Madison and subsequently on the Bill of Rights is mostly unknown. I became aware of his fascinating story only a year ago. I don't want to turn this into a political discussion, but we certainly should be aware of the struggles of our early patriots to ensure religious freedom.
