    3. Again I say that having tried to do the same thing on a much smaller scale, I have great sympathy for Eaton. He was from Oak Grove on the western end of the county and may be more accurate there. If he began there he probably was more inspired. I found out for myself, that you can reach such a point of frustration, that you just get sloppy. He did make plats including latitude & longitude. He did research deeds. That said, when I find he omitted 10 out of 20 patents which were available from sources he used, I am very leary. I view his book as a starting point just as I would family trees on the internet. His prose section has raised a lot of hackles and is superficial, e.g. Middleton (a family) initially meant Middle Town. Simply writing in a name somewhere in the vicinity of a patent is to me nearly as bad as omitting it entirely. *Capt. Thomas Youell, born in 1615 . . . He became a Justice of Westmoreland County, and is buried under the present Mt. Holly church with several other members of his family.* Eaton, p.53. If Youell was born in 1615 he is not buried under Nomini Church, which was rebuilt in the 1840's, unless someone dug him up and replanted him. As a former member of the church, I have never heard of anyone being buried under the alter. As a matter of fact the alter was moved from the west to the east side some years ago. The original church was across Nomini Creek somewhere undetermined. There are unmarked graves behind the present church.
