    3.   I've been working through the 1692-1700 Richmond land & court records.   I think Griffin Carter is the s/o John Carter, cousin of John Carter d 1669 who named him in his will.   both John's lived in Old Rappahannock but I think cousin John's (d1670) Widow Elizabeth (Griffin)  married 2nd William Tuffley, 3rd John Hull, 4th William Lloyd & 5th John Morris.   Griffin purchases land in Essex 1693 (Richmond records) from John Deane who owned land on both sides of the river.   Have not found an estate record for Griffin Carter but his widow Susannah was brought into court for being in an unmarried relationship   === 1716-1718 Essex Co VA Deed & Will Book 18; Antient Press: (Page 72-75) 15 July 1717  Griffin Carter of St. Mary's parish, Essex county, unto my daughter Elizabeth Bell. 50 Acres which she now lives upon during her natural life and then unto my grandaughter Mary Bell daughter of John Bell and Elizabeth Bell, but if Mary happens to die without heirs the land to fall to my son John Carter Griffin Carter Wit: Edward Scrimpshaw, George Robinson. 16 July 1717 Acknowledged by Richard Booker attorney of Griffin Carter.
