I have seen her maiden name documented only as Anne Washington. Her mother was Anne (Pope) Washington. Perhaps that led to some later writer assigning her name to her daughter. Remember the general rule: no middle names before the Revolution, except for children named for an ancestor, which might be the case here--but I doubt it. The middle names usually came from a grandparent or more distant relative, and in the case of women were usually the namesake's *married* name. -- Kathleen Much The Book Doctor
