Michael HALBERT listed below is my ancestor. His daughter Ann HALBERT m William REEDS, son of Samuel REEDS (d 1698 Westmoreland) and Mary, widow of Wm. SMITH d. 1671 Westmoreland. SMITH/REEDS lived at the head od Mattox Creek--aka Hallowes Creek, Appomattox Creek, Maddox Creek. In following land records I have determined that they lived across from Col. John WASHINGTON and probably lived next door to Nathaniel POPE. John WASHINGTON and Nicholas SPENCER were co-owners of what later became Mount Vernon. (both men listed below) The William MARSHALL listed below could well be the William MARSHALL of Westmoreland who m 1717 Elizabeth "Betty" WILLIAMS (1697-1768), dau of Jael HARRISON-WILLIAMS-JOHNSON who ran the ferry to Ferry Farm. Jael was the dau of Elizabeth PIGG-MOTT-HARRISON, widow of George MOTT (my ancestor) Francis WRIGHT, who is also listed) is probably Maj.
