I found a family tree done from Thomas Chinn 1642 down 10 generations given to me probably 10 years ago and I know this is no help without sources but they list Elijah's son Christopher Columbus Chinn b. 1745 in Shelbourne, Loudoun Co. m. Ann Nancy Bartlett who d. October 20, 1878 m. Dec. 17, 1779 in Montgomery Co. MD. I don't know if what all I have is regarding the same Christopher but I will send you what I find and you can decipher it for yourself. It's all I can do to research my own and figure out who is who. I'll just send you what I have and you do with it what you want. If "my" Christopher CHINN did not go to and die in KY, I have a hard time with this story (21 year old widow with 3 children, going from Loudoun Co, VA to KY - she'd have been better off following her father to Harrison Co, VA. There's a 10 year gap - from 1786 when Christopher died; until 1796 when Ann is named as the wife of Thomas HALL. There are several records for Thomas HALL indicating he was in the area of Boobesborough, now KY from the beginning of the RevWar - somehow he met and married the widow Anne CHINN... Don't know that all this wandering off into Kentucky, Peytons and Powells was particulary useful. But, as I said, 25K is a LOT of space to say a lot. > Craig ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to VA-NORTHERN-NECK-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ----- No virus found in this message. Janean Thanks very much. I'll be glad to sift, and then I'll add it to the tree with the link to my BARTLETT line. As I indicated with two of the guardianship records, the Christopher CHINN that married Ann BARTLETT had to be born in 1760 or 61. Note that Ann would have been living with her father on Thomas's plantation in northeastern Fauquier Co (near the Loudoun Co line), and she was still 15 when she and Christopher married in Montgomery Co. It seems pretty clear to me that they eloped - several of her older siblings were married in Fauquier Co. I'd also bet that she was pregnant (she is shown in various Trees with 3 CHINN children before she was 21 and Christopher died). Note that Christopher was probably 19 or 20 when they married, and 3 months later he chose Thomas BARTLETT as his guardian. This part of the story fits together as a very tight package. It's also clear to me that Ann inherited land in KY from Christopher, that he got from his father Elijah. So I'm pretty sure we have the correct Ann and the correct Christopher. Christopher and Ann sold their land in Loudoun Co in 1784. I think in preparation to move west with many others making the same plans near the end of the RevWar. Thomas BARTLETT and most of his family moved to Harrison Co, VA in 1784/85. I think some of Christopher CHINN's kinfolk also moved to KY around that time. Records of their sellout in Loudoun, and appearance in KY would tie this part of the story together, too. Then I've got to determine which of several Thomas HALLs Ann married after Christopher died. He was an 1833 Pensioner in Montgomery Co, KY, and he's listed as a DAR Patriot - so maybe some good records there - at least one line of descent (for my DNA net) Jim - Sent from my iPhone - FaceTime! "Janean, you know I love you. i really do. And many thanks for all you have contributed here. BUT....here is "my deal" so to speak.....everyone would be much better served tif they would limit posts and replies to ONE family at at time, or one topic at time. That was my point. It was not personal. Nothing I say here is personal. NOTHING. Everything I say here is to keep the list humming along and interesting to the group AS A WHOLE. That's all. I again urge all of us to post a message that is to the point, on piont, and on one topic at one time. If this is not clear, I will try some other way to explain it. All advice welcome. Craig
