Hello Everyone, I trust you as hot as the rest of the country this week. Regardless, hope springs eternal that you will sooner or later make a visit to Virginia's Northern Neck in the course of your never-ending research endeavors. When you do, I hope you'll make plans on where your temporary home will be while here. There are many options, for both campers, high-end hotels and resorts, budget hotels and of course some very nice B&Bs. IT is in this last category that I write to you today. Just opened in April (I should say re-opened) is the Inn at Montross. This is on the Court House Square. If you research is taking you to Westmorland County, you will definitely want to consider making this your headquarters. It offers five well-appointed guest rooms, each with its own private bath. The only draw back is that as of this writing, no rooms offer a television. But who needs a TV when you have wi-fi and a full bar and restaurant (breakfast is included in the room rate) and your owner/managers (Ken and Cindy) on either end of your staircase? You can visit this wonderful establishment on line at: http://theinnatmontross.com/ you can also follow them from your facebook or twitter account. The reason I am spotlighting this particular establishment is that it is so new, and there are so few venues in Montross to choose from. Another reason I highlight this is that a few weeks ago, a couple from California was in town and stayed at the Roach Motel only to learn of this new place they would have loved to visited. To cap it off, a nice man from Alabama called us yesterday to plan a trip to Westmoreland County. As you will see from the web site, The Inn at Montross is much more about the food than the guest rooms. It is owned by a group of investors who are all, more or less, hands on management. Ken & Cindy are both investors and the live-in, on site managers. In the next few messages, I will try to paint a broader picture of area lodging places, but since this place is so new and, frankly, badly needed in Montross, I wanted to give it a special write up. Your Trusty Friend, Craig Kilby
