No, it wasn't. You left out a "that".... I think that "THAT" is appropriate. You think THAT the cat came in last night. You think that "That" might have happened. To quote RIchard Nixon: "Let me say this about that." He didn't just say "Let me say this." He was referring to "That" which was whatever he was denying at the moment. Words mean things.
