I might add, there may be more going on here than first thought. The Trading Path passes through Bute Co, NC. then splits in western NC into a Ga/SC and a TN/KY migration route. Many of the Westmoreland folks I'm finding in Bute Co, NC are living fairly close to Williamsboro, NC, the home base of the Transylvania Land Co.,(Richard Henderson, Daniel Boone, etc.). But, for Va researchers, what may not be commonly known is that Landon Carter was a partner in this venture. So, if you ancestors left the NN and showed up later in TN/KY or GA/SC, you might want to check this stop over point first. http://www.ncgenweb.us/ncstate/historical/Bute/search.htm PS: If you find anyone, please let me know, as I have been tracking many of these families. -- Fred Duncan
