Dear Northern Neck Genealogist, Just a few suggestions on how to improve our group. A. If members of this list are like me they are descendants from several Northern Neck Families Here are most of my family Northern Neck Families - Cockrill, Anderson, Prou, Travis, Turner, Shippey, Minter, Rogers, Rosser, Neavil, Thornton, Aylett, Talifaferro, Burgess, Buckner, Price Fewell, Whiteman, Shumate, James, Rowley, Partridge, Waugh, Crosby, Blackwell, Conyers, Matthews, Steptoe, Stephen, Eustace, Jauncey, Lee, Kendall, Heath, Glascock, Fauntleroy, Conway, Ellis (2), Stone, Robinson, Muttone, Armistead, Ball (3), Romney, Atherold, Bowater, Owen, Ellis, Buckner, Nichols, Smoot, Goodrich, Champ, Campbell, Bradley, Cossens, Baker, Hancock, Johnson (3), Nelson, Juet, Taylor, Post, Smith (3), Mott, Hamilton, Gillargre, Hamilton, Fielding, Doniphan, Mott, Pigg, Crosby, Bailey, Walker, Jeffries, Carr, Eskridge, Osborne, Owens, Strator, Lnu, Beverly,Robinson (2) Pritchard, Tooke, Muse, Bohannon, Thoresby, Crackplace, Ferrers, Ironmonger, Peasley, Aylett, Taylor (2), Presley, Thornton, Rowland, Savage, Mottrom, Griffen, Catlett, Grymes, Underwood, Newby, Tomlin and several other. I realize that some of these families may not all be Northern Neck Families. I have never made this list before. Looks like there are about 100 families. No wonder I love this list so much. B. On our Fauquier County, Virginia list we sometimes ask for a roll call. That is not my purpose here. C. With all of the members of the list I would like to suggest that we assign different people to take one or two of our families names and be responsible for that family name. Every one would send that person information on a family name. That family representative would be responsible to organize that a family and add the documentation to that family. D. The family representative would organize that family and add documentation to a family and would work with other cousins or interested members of the list off line. When the group felt that they had the family in really good shape the family representative would send in the family to Craig so that their family could be posted. E. I have a lot of information on the Conway family, but have seen a million email come through so that my old mind is boggeled by the number of comments. F. Craig or some one or the group could set the standards on how to set up a particular family. G. We could settle disputes off line in a friendly manner. H. We should post books, sources, wills, marriages, birth, death, etc etc. Face book is going to give us some wonder opportunities in this area. If we are organized from the start we could build a wonderful data base on our Northern Neck families. How many members do we have on our list? I picked the Downing family because several of my surnames appear in the family - Downing, Smith, Hudnall, Cottrell, Cockrill, Nutt, Blackwell etc. Thanks Jim Burgess [email protected] www.virginiasurnames.com
