Howson HOOE 1696-1780 m 1) Frances BERNARD (Barnard, Burnard) who died 4/26/1726. He m 2) Anne Francis HARRIS 1703-aft. 1773, dau of Nathaniel. Who were the parents of Frances BERNARD? Howson HOOE named 5 sons in his will, but it is known that he had at least one daughter, Ann HOOE who m Smallwood MATTOX. The daughters must have received the equivalency of a dowery. Did he have other daughters? I theorize that my ancestor Lydia (LNU) who m Joseph DUNCAN was the daughter of Howson HOOE and Frances BERNARD because she named her second son Howson Hooe DUNCAN. I have in my data Lettice SPENCER, do Nicholas SPENCER 1633-1689 and Frances MOTTRAM, who m a Mr BARNARD. Does anyone know who he was?? Does anyone have a list of the BARNARD children? Nicholas SPENCER died in Westmoreland--the same county in which Lydia m Joseph DUNCAN. It makes sense that Lettice SPENCER and Mr. BARNARD who have a child Frances who would then name a child Lydia. I have seen the name Lydia in connection with Lettice, Letticia, Ledy, etc. Thank You for any clues. I have many notes and records, but did not include them in the interest of brevity.
