Thanks to Joy and others on this list who have torn down long standing brick walls, I am hot on the trail of my ancestors....now ,to push my luck even further, may I ask if anyone has any information on the Clemens family....The mother must have been Esther, sons William and John...and perhaps daughter Hopewell. The name turns up in tax lists in Harrison county from 1796-1806 in various spellings: Clemens, Clemmons , Clemmon, Clemin. Esther may have been a widow in 1796 as she is listed as the tax payer. Is there a previous list of wills for this county or for Monongalia County? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated .
