    3. <<Brian - When you have time to look, is there any Booth, McClelland, Evan Thomas, Dudley Evans referenced in the books>> Vol. 2 tells of Capt. John Thomas of Booth's Creek, brother of Evan Thomas. John Thomas and his family were murdered by Indians in 1781; this book paraphrases the account given in Wither's "Chronicles of Border Warfare." This last-mentioned book is widely available and inexpensive, and anybody who had pioneer ancestors in the area should own it. Vol. 1 has an abstract of Evan Thomas' land patent: "Evan Thomas is intiteled to four hundred acres of land in Monongalia County on the waters of Booth's Creek adjoining Thomas Batten's land in the right of Residence to include his Improvement made thereon in the year 1774. Evan Thomas married Sarah Booth, daughter of Captain James Booth, and they located on this Marion County tract." You could find a scanned copy of the original patent at: http://198.17.62.51/collections/ There are Booths mentioned in every volume, and I don't have the time to do an open-ended lookup on the entire surname. I can do lookups on any of the individuals, though: Vol. 1: Booth, James Booth, John Booth, Sarah Vol. 2 Booth, Bersheba Booth, Daniel Booth, James Booth, James C. Booth, John Booth, Nancy Booth, Sarah Booth, William McClelland, George McClelland, James McClelland, Sarah Vol. 4: Booth, C. E. Boothe, Napoleon Vol. 5 references to Booth mine and Booth Creek. Every volume has references to Booth's Creek and the village of Booth, probably none of any genealogical significance. Volume 2 has references to Dudley Evans on pp. 83, 185, 255, 275, 293, 294, 324, 371, 372, 388, 405, 452, 496, and 524. These references give absolutely no genealogical information about him, but deal with his services as a justice of the peace, militia colonel, member of the board of trustees for Monongalia Academy, and service as a member of the state House of Delegates, in which capacity he served a number of terms.
