That certainly suggests that William was their father, not John who could have been the grandfather. (However, it is still feasible that John was their father if he had predeceased William, leaving his daughters as the heirs of William.) I have Volumes 2, 4 and 6 but not 5 of ZINN's series. And, I see that this surname (DAUGHERTY/DOUGHERTY) is cited with some frequency in those volumes, too. I'll have to review all of those to see if I can learn more about this family. So far, I do not see any mentions of RIGHTMIREs. In a 1782 enumeration for Monongalia County, there is only a John DAUGHERTY there with four in his household. My DOUGHERTY, Susan b. abt. 1791, m. John INKS, son of Thomas INKS, also a tavern keeper just north of Preston Co., in Wharton Twp., Fayette Co. on the old Braddock Road. They were not married until about 1807. Susan would still have been a minor in 1803. Regards, Jane
Are you able to do lookups in the 1782 enumeration of Monongalia Co.? I'm interested in surnames Thomas, Owen(s) and Baggs/Boggs. Thanks if you can.
