<<Brian, Does your references books have any info on a James Shiflett. James Shiflett was born aprox 1838 possibly in Albemarle County, WV. I believe his father was also named James and his mother was Mary ? (no last name). James Shiflett married in Harrison County, WV on 11-26-1869 to Martha Lowther Reed. It is possible that Martha was James' 2nd wife & I've been told that possibly James 1st wife was also named Martha. James & Martha Shiflett are found in the 1880 Gilmer County, WV census with children: Austen, Gay, & Cora Shiflett; Rosa Reed & Worthington Mathew Reed.
