    3. <<Is there a WISE in the books? My ancestor was Isaac Wise, b. 1818 Morgantown, Monongalia Co., VA. He married Elizabeth McCollough. some say her name was Elizabeth Lemon.>> Vol. 1, no Wise. Vol. 2, Joseph Wise was a private in Capt. Willoughby Morgan's Militia Company in 1814. Vol. 4, p. 135: On 26 March 1889, the Methodist Protestant Society was organized at the Buckeye School, Rev. W.W. Hart presiding. Plans were made to construct a church across from the schoolhouse. Present at the meeting were David and Leah Lemley (my g-g-g grandparents), D. N. and Sophronia Lemley (my g-g grandparents), Isaac and Susannah Bowers, Mattie E. Bowers, Elizabeth Lapoe, James and Hannah Poland, John Wise, Jr., Ida Wise, and William L. Garrison. I have photographs of some of these people, taken at Lemley & Headlee reunions. Most of them were related, either by blood or marriage. 4:119: "DUNKARD VALLEY BAPTIST CHURCH "A church group organized about 1881 in the village of Wise meeting in the schoolhouse near the covered bridge over Dunkard Creek, by 1888 had become so large that plans were made for a church building. Materials were taken from the forest nearby and hauled to the sawmill by ox-cart. The building was ready for use the same year. It was decided that this was to be a community church, but since it had to be under some general organization, it joined the Baptist Association. It was the only one in the vicinity at the time. The church was called the Dunkard Valley Baptist Church. Rev. Isaac Wise was the first pastor." The church burned on 15 December 1900, and was never rebuilt. 5:85 A Howard Wise was one of three men who robbed the Bank of Wadestown on 04 December 1935. One was shot dead, another wounded seriously, and Howard Wise was uninjured. He was arrested by the three state troopers who were lying in wait for them; an anonymous tip was called in several days earlier. Brian Brian D. Core P.O.
