3. From what I've observed on the Census' of HC and MC the immigrants to the area worked in the mines, looks like 1900 and forward. They seemed to have flooded the area at that time.....not only the Italians but many from other countries. 2. I am sorry that you do not feel that a forum where people gather to talk about family, history and where people appreciate the beauty and grace of life itself is not the appropriate forum for topics of humanity. Maybe you might feel differently if you had not been so fortunate to be an American and to be able to own a computer where you can simply push aside anything that does not suit your tastes as INAPPROPRIATE. However, I imagine that if you had been unfortunate enough to be born in South Africa during the middle of an Aids epidemic, you might wish that someone or anyone with the ability to do so. . .would speak up on your behalf so that you might have the chance to see the sun rise. Many people all around the world would love to have the opportunities that you are afforded and would trade places with you anyday. Count your blessings, share them with all who inhabit the gift of Earth and for all our sake's. . .USE YOUR LIFE! Please take this message in the spirit that it is intended. . .to promote a better stream of consciousness within all of humanity in order that we may always strive to be our best and make the world a better place for all, not just for one. . .me, myself and I have become much too important. We have been given great opportunities, wonderful spirit and grand beauty. Let us not make waste of it! Peace to all!

    2. I am sending the following letter to all of you that I sent to the White House to ask President Bush to consider my comments. I ask that any of you who are interested in helping the Aids crisis in Africa would visit the website for an organization called DATA . The organization is a good one. One of the Leaders in this fight against Aids, Famine and other problems in Africa is Bono (of the rock group U2). There is no donation necessary. We can all make a difference by just sending a letter to President Bush. Please check out the website and consider passing this onto others to help our neighbors in Africa because, as Bono said. . ." if we just let the fires burn in Africa, they will eventually reach our shores". Here is the website DATA.org . I did attempt to write to the senators of Michigan also. Their e-mail addresses have not been updated and they were undeliverable. Thank you for taking the time to make a difference! If the United States gave ten dollars for every American, that would be 2.5 billion dollars a year – enough to make a real difference in Africa. With fairer trade, and more efforts to ease the burden of debt, we could help stop AIDS in its tracks – and help Africans turn the tide. America, as a leader of the free world, MUST lead by example. If we lead in this cause, we are bound to see others follow in our footsteps. This could be the start of a wonderful chain reaction that could help countries and people in need all around the globe. We need to be leaders in the fight to make the world a better place not only for our children but for all the children around the world. We are forever in debt to all those who helped shape America into the Country that we are so proud to call home today. We must honor that debt by using all our wealth, both financial and otherwise, to help those who cannot help themselves. If we wrap our arms around Africa and treat them as our neighbor, not across vast oceans, but right next door, we will be reaching out with the arms of not just a nation of plenty, but a nation under God. Reaching out and sharing the gifts that we have been blessed with as Americans and as children of one human race is not an option, it is our duty in exchange for the wonder that we are blessed with when we wake up every morning called life. Please do this on our behalf, and show how much America cares. Sincerely, Kyra Faith Prestininzi 48362 Anthony Drive Macomb, Michigan 48044

    3. The Levi Douglas that I am interested in is not the well known Levi (b 1750?) but rather is Levi b 1832, son of John B. Douglass and Elizabeth Lance, grandson of Levi Douglass and Nancy Hailey. "My Levi" married Phebe Ross May 16, 1852 (according to Harrison County marriage bonds) and they had (at least) eight children. My interest is in finding descendents of Levi and Phebe so that, perhaps, I might find more on Phebe Ross who was sister to my GG grandfather James Ross. James and Phebe together with their mother Mary moved to Harrison County about 1845 from Bath County, VA. Mary Ross is buried in the Old Presbyterian Cemetery at Raccoon Run, Romine Mills, Harrison County. Levi and Phebe lived in that area. 3. Jean, I believe you will find that Martin and Andrew Zorn(s)(es) were both sons of Jacob Zorn. Below is an excerpt from my file on the Zorn family. If you search the GenForum pages at genealogy.com you will find a forum devoted to the Zorn or Zornes family, and, as I recall, it has included many messages regarding Martin, perhaps even reference to a book in progress on this family. Please use the information below only as a collection of hints about where to look to document your Zorns line. 3. Jean, I checked marriage records for Mon County. No luck. I believe they start in 1785. Someone on this list may be able to tell you where to look for records before that date. I did find the deed record for Martin Zorn and Catharine, his wife, for the sale of his 297 acres in Harrison County in 1793 to Benjamin Reeder. I made a copy of the deed; if you'd like to send me your snail mail address to me privately I'll be happy to put it in the mail for you. I also found a listing for a Martin and Andrew ZERN in the "Reports on Claims to unpatented lands in Monongalia, Yohogania and Ohio Counties, VA and WV" at the courthouse. They are listed on three separate pages, along with a Susanah Decker, as "tenants in common" of 400 acres located on Deckers Creek. This is dated 1771. I did not make copies of these as I wasn't sure this was the same person you are looking for. Hope this helps.
