Hi Fern, I noticed some surnames you've been researching, and was wondering if you've come across some information that could help me knock down my brick wall. My brick wall is John Rose, b. 1761 in probably Hampshire Co., VA. He married Rebekah Bowen, b. 1763 in Chambersburg, Franklin Co., PA. She was the d/o David & Hannah (Davis) Bowen. Our Rose researchers have been trying to figure out for over 20 years who our John Rose's parents were. You mentioned the surname "McIntire". It is SUGGESTED that our John Rose's sister was Rachel Rose who married John McIntire, s/o Charles McIntire. Have you seen anything that might prove this? It is also SUGGESTED that John Rose's father was Ezekiel Rose who married Mary Higgins. We THINK she was the daughter of Thomas Higgins from the Hampshire Co., VA area. Some people think that our John Rose was actually this Ezekiel's brother, not his son. With this theory it's SUGGESTED that John & Ezekiel's parents were Robert Rose and Johanna...Crawford or Quick. From very recent DNA studies, we've learned that we have the same ancestry as the Roses from Long Island, NY that migrated down to Hampshire Co., VA, and over to Washington County, Fayette County, and Green County, of PA. This includes the Robert Rose and Ezekiel Rose I mentioned above. We just don't know how to fit the pieces directly together. Have you come across the Roses in your research of the McIntires and Higgins, and do you have any information that might shed some light on our John Rose? Thanks so much! ALL FRIENDS & FAMILY: This message has gone around a lot....so much that I am surprised at how few people have cared enough to send a simple little note of THANKS to the men and woman who are currently out there protecting the United States. No matter the politics, we would not have a free country at all without those who stand ready to put their lives on the line for all of us! They are getting very close to doing just that -- maybe we can all find the 30 seconds max to say THANK YOU ------------------- If you are so inclined, visit the Department of Defense web page below and sign a brief message thanking the men and women of the U.S. military services for defending our freedom. The compiled list of names will be sent out to our soldiers at the end of the month. So far, there are only 3,000,000 names. What a shame. There should be hundreds of millions of "thank you's." Pass the word that we can honor and support the defenders of freedom. National Military Appreciation Month http://www.defendamerica.mil/nmam.html takes 10 seconds...literally (please pass it on to your email friends)
Hi Jaynes, Just received your E-Mail requesting information on the Family of James Hurl. We don't have anyone with that name in our family tree. Have you tried the Vital Statistics area in Clarksburg and Charlston? I was going to suggest the Roots Web site but noticed you have gone thru them already. You might try some of the Family History centers in the LDS Church near you. They should have them listed in the phone book if there is a meeting house close by. They can help you find places to search. Any one can use their Family History Library's. One of their sites is ( WWW.Familysearch.org ) The main Library is located in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Address is Family History Library 35 North West Temple Street Salt Lake City, Utah 84150 Phone: 801-240-2331 My Husbands people are from Harrison, Marion, Taylor, Wetzel, Monongalia, Ohio and Doddridge counties. and others. He has an Aunt still living in Clarksburg. We are searching the Booth, McIntire, Edgell , Higgins families and many more in his line. Some of them are hard to find. I've been doing Genealogy for about 40 years and love it but get a little disappointed when I can't find someone HA. We are still searching for my Husbands Father who disappeared in 1934. I wish I could help you more. Another site to try is Ancestry.com and The Genealogy Home page-http://www.genhomepage.com and U>S> Surname Distribution http://adm1.hamrick.com/names snd National Genealogical Society-Home Page-http://genealogy.org/NGS/ The LDS Library is probably the largest Genealogy Library in the Nation. I hope you can find those people you are searching for. Good Luck. HELLO, I AM JUST INTERESTED IN THE NAME TEAGARDEN OR TEGARDEN as my "old" postcard spells it. I have a collection of postcards that my family sent to each other and friends. They are mostly dated 1908 and mostly between Lewis and Harrison county mailing addresses. Generally the writers are about 20 years old. One I have is to my great uncle. With a picture of 3 young men in a studio picture this was not mailed (so no date) but must have been just given to Uncle Earl or mailed in an envelope. In beautiful script it simply says, Eli Williamson, Teegarden and Luicarte. Do any of the names seem familiar? Can you help me?
